Charles Dicken at 200

When I was in New York I went, with my family, to the "Morgan Library & Museum" to see the exhibiton of Charles Dickens "Charles Dickens at 200".
The Morgan Library & Museum's collection of Dickens manuscripts and letters is the largest in the United States and is one of the two greatest collections in the world.
Charles Dickens at 200 celebrates the bicentennial of the great writer's birth in 1812 with manuscripts of his novels and stories, letters, books, photographs, original illustrations, and caricatures. The letters where very interesting. I enjoy reading his book a lot because his way of writing, so many adjectives and all the details, is so lovely it makes you want to keep on reading forever.
The tiny illustrations were so nice, I bought a post-card with the illustration of "Scrooge's Thrid Visitor" from the book a Chritmas Carol. Then there was the story about his life. He was a very generous man and he helped lots of people in need.
The exhibition was very interesting and the "Pierpont Morgan Museum & Library" was very beautiful and modern and classic at the same time.

Caracas Arepa Bar

"Pale gold arepas, made from scratch daily, they have been described as "dense yet spongy corn-flour rounds, pitalike pockets, corn muffins, cake-swaddled mélange, white corn cakes, Latin sloppy Joe, sandwiches of a flat cornmeal patty, soft and smooth within, golden crispiness, tasty treats, burrito-killer, panini-killer, wheat-free, gluten-free crisp on the outside, steamy-soft in the middle..."
The truth is that our arepas resist definition. They are the
result of a relentless dedication to homemade quality slow food. Straight from Venezuela, with New York temperament, stuffed or plain, arepas can be a snack or a meal, exotic or familiar. Their versatility is probably their only constant and the reason why in Venezuela they are at the center of every meal; from breakfast to lunch, dinner, and the occasional after party treat
."

While I was in New York my family and I went to eat at Caracas Arepa Bar and it was one of the best meals I had in NY. It's a home-made Venezuelan (that's were I come from: Venezuela) restaurant. I had an arepa de pabellòn which was super duper yummy and my sister and my mum had a Christmas plate called hallacas with pan de jamon. And to drink we all had Frescolita it was delicioussssssssss! I had forgotten the taste of that!
The food was like a party of amazing taste in your mouth!!!
If you live in New York go eat at Caracas Arepa Bar or you will be missing out on so many amazing home made food!

I LOVED IT! AND I'M PRETTY SURE YOU WILL TOO!

Chipotle in New York City

" ITS NOT JUST A BURRITO. ITS A FOIL-WRAPPED, HAND CRAFTED, LOCAL FARM SUPPORTING, FOOD CULTURE CHANGING CYLINDER OF DELICIOUSNESS. "

Hey guys,
I went to New York City with my family for my Christmas vacacions and I had soo much fun! It was the very first time I went to New York and I found it awesome. Thank you sooo much mummy, daddy and sissi I love you all so much! The people are so nice and the city was just...breathtaking!
I'll post pictures if I get the chance.
Anyway what I really wanted to talk about was about Chipotle. A long time ago I made a post about this Mexican food Chain called Chipotle and I actually had lunch there in NYC. They support and sustain family farmers who respect the land and the animals in their care.
Whenever possible they use meat from animal raised without the use of antibiotics or added hormones. They sold lost of tacos and burritos but I personaly do not like burritos I was so exited to be eating there :P But if you do like burritos that is perfectly the place to go to!

The story about Chipotle is very interesting. Visit its site http://www.chipotle.com and if where you live they have Chipotle make sure you try it!

Diary Of a Wimpy Kid

Now I officially have all the books of "Diary of a Wimpy Kid". I love that series of book soo much!
"DIary of a Wimpy Kid" is wrote by the American author Jeff Kinney. His books are a #1 New York Times Bestsellers. There are six books in this serie:
1. "Diary of a Wimpy Kid."
2. "Diary of a Wimpy Kid; Rodrick Rules."
3. "Diary of a Wimpy Kid; The last Straw."
4. "Diary of a Wimpy Kid; Dog Days."
5. "Diary of a Wimpy Kid; The Ugly Truth."
6. "Diary of a Wimpy Kid; Cabin Fever."
The last one "Cabin Fever" just came out the 15th of November 2011.
I have them all and my favourite one is "The Ugly Truth" but "Cabin Fever" was very funny!
Jeff Kinney also wrote the book "Diary of a Wimpy Kid; Do it Yourself." Which is the only book I don't have and is part interactive book and part journal.
The books are about Greg Heffley and how he faces the trobles life brings sometimes like bullies and how his small brother Manny is always bugging him or how his big brother Rodrick does the worst of things to him. The books are all really funny! Greg has Rowley as a best friend which doesn't really help him get popular at school. Rowley is also an only child so his parents spoil him a lot which annoys him a lot. The whole journal started because Greg mum's Susan wanted him to keep a diary but when she went out to buy the 'booklet' Greg had specifically asked her to NOT buy one with the word 'Diary' on it...he has to be really careful that no one in his school catches him writing in his Journal or that would be another reason for people to start picking on him!

All the book are awesome. I 100% raccomand this books.

Firenze

Hey guys, I went to Florence for three days with my school...its a beautifull city! Here are some pics :P

THis is Santa Maria NOvella...One of the firts thing we saw. Its very beautifull but unfortunately we weren't allowed to take photos in the insided. There were many frescoes by Giotto, Cimabue and Its a Gothic church from the Renaissance.

The Cathedral of Florence or also know as Santa Maria del Fiore. I couldn't take a better photo because rite when we were passing by it my camera died :( But anyway it a very very nice Church but inside its a little empty!

The Medici Chapel, my favourite thing! This Chapel was built thanks to the money of the Medici family

They didn't let us take photos on the inside but it was a shame! Its was breathtaking, there was the Price Chapel and the New Sacristy of Michelangelo.

This statue of a wild pig was taken in frot of "Il mercatino del Cinghiale" Its a bazaar named "Wild Pig". You touched the snout of the pig, put a coin in his mouth and let go of the coin. If the coin fell inside of the sewer in the fountain it brang you 'Good Luck'.

I didn't throw a coin beacause by then I had already finished all of my money :P

But we did pass by other markets and I did buy lots of thing, the markets were lovely and I bought gifts for all my family but i didn't take picture of my buys. I only took a photo of what one of my friends bought:

She found a man who was making handmade hats and she asked him if he could write her name in it ;)She loved it... and i think it was pretty cool!!!
There were so many unique things...

I had lots of fun and we saw so many other things but I wasn't able to take pictues. If you ever come to Italy make sure you visit Florence its amazing.

Love,
Matilde
